Year 8 & 9

Assistant Principal's Report
As Term 2 draws to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all members of our school community. This term has been nothing short of outstanding, with our students demonstrating resilience, focus, and a strong commitment to excellence.
Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, or on the stage, our students have truly shone. I encourage everyone to take the upcoming break as a time to rest, recharge, and reflect on the fantastic achievements of the past 11 weeks.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the dedicated staff who go above and beyond every day to enrich the lives of our students.
This term, we’ve seen incredible efforts from staff across all areas of school life:
- 🎓 Those who delivered inspiring career development programs, helping students make informed choices about their futures
- ⚽ Staff who coached and supported sports teams, giving up countless hours for training and competitions
- 🎶 Teachers who ran after-school classes and homework club, helping students thrive beyond the regular timetable
- 🎤 Everyone involved in hosting music evenings and drama events, showcasing the extraordinary talent within our school
Your time, energy, and passion make all the difference — thank you for helping create such a vibrant, supportive, and opportunity-filled school community.
And to our (very tired) students we have enjoyed the first half of the year’s learning journey with you and look forward to semester two.
Wishing you all a cozy winter break.

Year Level Leader's Report Year 8
As Term 2 comes to a close, we are proud to reflect on the many achievements, experiences and personal growth of our Year 8 students at Wyndham Central College. It has been a term filled with learning, resilience, and celebration of identity and wellbeing.
Our Pasifika students have embraced the Le Mana program, which has offered a space to explore and strengthen cultural identity, leadership and belonging. This initiative has been instrumental in building student voice and cultural pride, and we’re incredibly proud of the engagement and reflection demonstrated by our students.
In addition, the Blue Edge program has continued to provide a safe and motivating environment for selected students, encouraging connectedness, confidence, and physical wellbeing through structured early-morning sessions combining fitness and mentoring.
Students also participated in the Attitudes to School Survey, offering valuable insights into their learning experiences and wellbeing. These reflections help us continually shape a positive school environment for all and are a large part of our ongoing efforts to improve our school.
We were honoured to host Aunty Brenda, a proud Indigenous woman from the Stolen Generations, who generously shared her powerful personal story with our students. Her session deepened student understanding of truth-telling and reconciliation and was met with respect and curiosity.
Two of our Year 8 groups undertook Random Acts of Kindness projects this term, working collaboratively to spread positivity across the school community. From small gestures to group-led initiatives, these students demonstrated the impact of compassion and empathy in everyday life.
Academically, students showed focus and commitment during mid-year exams, approaching revision and assessment with maturity. Their efforts reflect their growth over Semester one and the improvements in learning habits and responsibility more broadly.
Finally, our Wellbeing Days brought joy and energy to the end of term. Students participated in activities such as Ninja Warrior, laser tag, archery, bungee run and more – all designed to promote resilience, teamwork, and fun.
