Around the School
Science Incursion
Last Tuesday, we had Trevor Atkinson (aka The Jolly Professor) and Mark Broughton (aka Rusty the Robot) from Jollybops Science travel from NSW to Goondiwindi to present their 'Science with an Indigenous Perspective' show to our students for National Science Week. The show included humour, links to First Nations science techniques, loads of experiments, lots of student involvement and a musical number at the end. All students, including our Goondiwindi Kindy visitors, were emersed and engaged in this fun-filled science presentation.
Here is what some of our students, staff and visitors had to say:
"Rusty was so funny! I really liked when the hydrogen balloon popped and how the dry ice drum knocked the cups off their heads." ~ Lane 4S
"It was good because Rusty was silly." ~ RJ 2/3B
"It was fun!" ~ Jocelyn 4O
"It was cool when they popped the balloons." ~ Ray 5AC
"It was really fun when they popped the hydrogen balloon, and the robot was so funny!" ~ Brittney 6DB
"The kindy kids LOVED it! It was fabulous. I think they will be talking about it for weeks to come." ~ Mrs Webb (Goondiwindi Kindergarten).
"The show was amazing!" ~ Miss Caffrey
"It was amusing and interesting. The students were captivated and engaged for the full hour." ~ Miss Simpson
