Message from the

School Principal

Mrs Kaylene Carlin

Dear Sacred Heart Families & Friends,

Yesterday, 8th August, marked the feast day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Mary is renowned for her deep commitment to education, care for the poor and unwavering faith. Sacred Heart has a very special connection with Mary MacKillop as it is said that Mary actually visited the site of Sacred Heart whilst staying with the Josephite sisters in Williamstown. Today we gathered as a school community for Mass to acknowledge and celebrate Mary. Our children were very reverent and prayerful throughout which was acknowledged by Fr Samuel at the conclusion of Mass. We give thanks to Mary and the Josephite sister who were instrumental in laying the foundations of a strong and enduring school community that is Sacred Heart Primary School over 120 years later. The values they embody—faith, resilience, and a commitment to social justice—are central to the ethos of Catholic education. Mary's life encourages educators and students to pursue excellence, care for those in need and live a faith filled life.

Introducing Chris Comand to the School Office

I would like to introduce our school community to Mrs Chris Comand. Chris will be working in the school reception and office over the next few weeks whilst Fiona is taking some well deserved leave to travel. Chris will be working on Mondays & Tuesdays for all of August. Sally Malady, who most of you will already know will be working on Thursdays to help Mary in the office as well.

CONGRATULATIONS!

A huge congratulations to the Sacred Heart Tball team who competed in the regional competition recently and won against some pretty tough competition - Oliver, Donovan, Archer, Harley, Lucas, Sebastian, Gianluca, Xavier, Marcus, Patrick and Yohans. The boys competed with courage and persistence and will now progress to the State Finals on the 11th September. Good luck, boys!

ANAPHYLAXIS POLICY

Sacred Heart Primary School seeks to facilitate the safe participation of all students in the educational experiences offered by the school. Where students are known to be at risk of anaphylaxis, parents/guardians/carers are required to provide relevant information to the school to enable us to carry out our duty of care obligations.

Sacred Heart Primary School does not ban certain types of foods (e.g., nuts) as it is not practicable to do so and is not a strategy recommended by the Department of Education (DE) or the Royal Children’s Hospital. However, the school avoids the use of nut-based products in all school activities, request that parents do not send those items to school if possible and the school l reinforces the rules about not sharing and not                                                                                            eating foods provided from home.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and enjoy this lovely sunshine.

I remain yours in faith and gratitude,
