Hands on Learning

Ashley Roberts

Our new Hands on Learning group is in full swing!  We are super proud of how far our team has come since the start of the term, learning to safely use tools, working together on projects and contributing to the school community. They have been helping to mulch the school grounds and building and completing the final book nook for the successful Independent Reading Program here at LHC. This involved breaking down and upcycling wooden pallets into a community style library for students to use.

Also our students are proud to have contributed in their own ways to the school production Matilda Jr!, such as building the blackboard and refurbishing the 80s style wooden school desks. These have come up a treat!

We look forward to sharing more of our successes and continuing to grow the program.

Ash - I’ve enjoyed cooking chicken wraps, building book nooks and playing basketball.

Ryan - I’ve enjoyed cooking pancakes and sausages and working outside on projects such as sanding and painting the desk for production.

Ollie - I’ve enjoyed doing other activities such as drilling, sanding and sawing to make the book nook folder holder. I am looking forward to learning more skills.

Max - I get to make things with wood like the book nooks. I learned to saw, sand drill and hammer.  I’ve enjoyed being outside and make new friends.

Brookley - I’ve enjoyed being outside and making new friends. Wood work gardening and cooking pancakes have been my favourite.
