2025 Year 10 Careers Experience program

At DSC each year, the Year 10 students complete one week of Careers (Work) Experience to explore areas of interest and to assist with their future career planning. This usually occurs in the last week of Term 2. Students are encouraged to begin exploring opportunities that align with their skills and interest, referring to work done in Future Ready and information from their Morrisby Profile.

Some highly sought after opportunities require application in the prior year. Please see below for some of these:

Zoos Victoria Work Experience Program 2025

Zoos Victoria are have opened their 2025 Secondary School Work Experience program.

Each year, a limited number of students are selected to gain experience at one of Victoria’s four Zoos; Healesville Sanctuary, Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range Zoo or Kyabram Fauna Park. The application process is open now.

To apply, DSC students must:

  1. Choose one property to complete work experience placement: Healesville Sanctuary, Kyabram Fauna Park, Melbourne Zoo, or Werribee Open Range Zoo.
  2. Submit a cover letter detailing how they meet the criteria listed in the property Role Descriptions.        Zoos Victoria Work Experience Role Description
  3. Read the Guidelines for Working with Animals to ensure you have considered the risks of working with animals. Guidelines for Working with Animals
  4. Complete the Department of Education’s Proposed Work Experience with Animals Form and submit it to their school’s Work Experience Coordinator (Donna Mckinlay - donna.mckinlay@education.vic.gov.au) for consideration. Department of Education’s Proposed Work Experience with Animals Form

Please note: only one student application per school can be submitted to Zoos Victoria for this program and all applications must go through the school Careers Centre. A submission does not guarantee a placement in the program.

Submit their application to the DSC Senior Centre for consideration by 3.30pm on Fri 16 August
