Greetings Families!
As we move through this busy month of learning, we want to take a moment to celebrate the dedication and hard work our students are putting into their studies.
Thank you for your continued encouragement and partnership. We’re excited to share the wonderful things happening in our classes and we look forward to celebrating many more successes with you.

LITERACY
We have been investigation the features of persuasive texts and inquiring about their complexity and how counter arguments can be used to help persuade an audience. We expanded our use of the PEEL technique (PEEL to PEEEEL) to write main body paragraphs in persuasive writing.
BE THE CHANGE
This month, our classes proudly participated in National Anti-Bullying Week, a time dedicated to raising awareness and fostering a supportive and respectful environment for all students. Throughout the week, our students engaged in a variety of activities designed to promote kindness, understanding, and solidarity.
MATH
Our math curriculum has been buzzing with exciting activities as students dive deeper into the world of division! Our focus has been on mastering different strategies that can be used to divide. These include the box method, using partial quotients, and creating mnemonic devices for long division.
Additionally, they've had the opportunity to practice a Japanese method of multiplication.
ZOO EXCURSION
Our students had an unforgettable experience during their visit to the Melbourne Zoo! The excursion provided a fantastic opportunity for them to explore the fascinating world of animal adaptations, which we have been learning about in class prior to our trip.
Throughout their visit, the students engaged in hands-on activities, including examining animal skulls, which helped them understand how various animals have evolved unique features to survive and thrive in their environments.
INQUIRY
Students have been researching animal adaptations, delving into how various species have developed unique traits to survive and flourish in their habitats.
To showcase their learning, each student is in the process of creating either a diorama or a poster that illustrates their chosen animal’s adaptations. This hands-on project allows them to apply their knowledge in a visually engaging way and share their discoveries with their peers.
BOOK WEEK
This year’s Book Week was a fantastic celebration of literature and creativity! Each class got into the spirit by decorating their doors to showcase a favourite book. Our Grade 6 students did an incredible job making vibrant and imaginative displays that truly captured the essence of their chosen stories. Their costumes for the Book Parade were amazing, too! Check out the creative ideas from our Grade 6 classes in the photos below. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made Book Week a memorable event!
HOMEWORK
We have an update to our weekly homework that we'd like to share.
While we recommend that students continue reading at home and using My Numeracy for Maths practice, those activities are no longer required.
Now, students receive a Literacy/Maths choice board where they select three activities from Literacy and three activities from Maths to complete for the week. Other students are given a levelled homework packet. Homework is given on Friday and due to class the following Friday morning.
