STEM

This Term our students have continued their work on Biological Sciences with our Prep and Grade 1 students investigating how plants grow, their parts, and what they need.

Our Grade 2 students utilised the scientific method to create an experiment looking at what happens by comparing the growth of two plants, one in shade and one in sun.

3 and 4 students have investigated different animals and explored the idea of Food Chains and food webs. They have been using coding in Scratch Jr to create an animation representing their animals food chain.

Our 5 & 6 students have expanded on the work the Grade 2s are doing by conducting experiments with 4 or 5 variables such as the growth of plants with less sunlight, in different soil types, and with salt water.

It's been a super fun and hands on term!!

Print - Car - Challenge

This month was the first time students from AHPS entered the Quantum Print-a-car Challenge. This is a statewide challenge that is held annually and attracts passionate STEM students from Primary and Secondary school. Students compete to create and Race a car of their design and making.

Our Team of Year 6 students worked incredibly hard to create their design and print it on time in line with the very strict criteria.

On race day students were able to watch the qualifying heats live and

AHPS scored some of the fastest pre penalty times of the day!!!

While the team didn't qualify for the finals due to penalties, they can be incredibly proud of their achievements!!!
