Play Based Learning (PBL)

The wet weather has seen more inside play. Loose-parts play featured over a few wet days and has been exciting for everyone involved.

Students have shifted the way they engage in play – games are still popular with most students and a great way to warm up and release energy, however small world and imaginative play has found new themes and resources to build with.

Here are some observations from students during PBL and photos from our maths measurement unit, loose-parts play, PBL, and our weekly library session:

"We are playing snow leopard school and I’m the teacher.  The snow leopards keep trying and they’re all doing really well." - Sitara

"We are ninjas and this is our house." - Max

"Ninjas do cool stuff" - Nattai

"I found a nest!

I’ll show you where it is in the tree. I think it’s a possum nest cos it’s small." - Jarvis

"We are building a pen for our pets. It’s going to have a roof. We are going to build with some mud and water to make it stronger. We have real pets in our pen!" - Lenny, Rune, Ana, River
