Focus on Learning Y3/4

Maths 

This week in mathematics we have started learning about 3D shapes. The students have been investigating how to build and draw 3D shapes, our focus has been on identifying edges, sides and faces to recognize common 3D shapes. 

Writing 

This term in writing our focus in on using imagery, symbols and connotations to create written texts and poetry. We have been learning to identify how authors use figurative language to create imagery. So far we have looked at metaphors, personification, alliteration, onomatopoeia and similes. I have loved reading our poems using figurative language to create imagery!

Geography 

This semester, we have started Geography. We are investigating the diversity of Australian places and environments. We are using Alison Lester's “Are We There Yet?” to explore various places and their climates. This week we focused in on Western Australia and studied the drawings in the book to describe key attractions and weather features in different areas.
