From the Principal's Desk

It has been another positive and productive fortnight across both campuses, with students continuing to build confidence in their routines and engage in meaningful learning experiences. Classrooms have been busy, and it has been fantastic to see students demonstrating our school values of being safe, respectful learners each day.

Looking Ahead – A Big Week of Community Events

Next week is shaping up to be a wonderful celebration of our community, with two key events we are really looking forward to.

We are excited to welcome our Mothers, Grandmothers and Special People into our school for our annual Mother’s Day High Tea across both campuses on Friday May 8th. This is always a special opportunity to connect, celebrate and acknowledge the important people in our students’ lives.

Complementing this, our Mother’s Day Stalls will run earlier in the week, proudly facilitated by our Senior Years students as part of their learning programs:

  • Senior Campus – Tuesday May 5th
  • Junior Campus – Wednesday May 6th

These stalls are a fantastic example of students engaging in real-life learning, building independence and contributing to our school community.

We will also be recognising Do It For Dolly Day on Friday May 8th, with students encouraged to wear blue to promote kindness, inclusion and standing against bullying. This is always a powerful day that aligns strongly with our wellbeing focus and school values.

Whole School Student Free Day –                               Monday May 11th

A reminder that Monday May 11th is a Student Free Day, with staff undertaking a full day of professional learning.

Across both campuses, staff will be focusing on strengthening teaching practice, communication strategies and student support approaches to further enhance learning, accessibility and inclusion for all students. This includes work in literacy, communication supports such as AAC, behaviour and regulation strategies, and strengthening curriculum pathways across the school.

This work is critical in ensuring our programs continue to meet the diverse needs of our learners.

Child Safety and Wellbeing – Community Feedback

We are continuing to seek feedback on our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.

See the policy below:

While responses have been limited so far, providing our community with the opportunity to engage and contribute is an important part of this process. We encourage any families who have the time to review the policy and share their thoughts.

Thank you to our students, families and staff for the continued partnership that makes Banmira such a supportive and vibrant place to learn. We look forward to a fantastic week ahead celebrating our community and continuing to support every student to thrive.
