Year 7 Vaccination

The Department of Health is offering parents of students in Year 7 the opportunity to have their child vaccinated against:

  • diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough) - 1 dose.
  • human papillomavirus (HPV) – 1 dose.

The Department of Health Vaccine Nurses will visit the College on Wednesday, February 28 to Vaccinate Year 7 students.

 

Parents/carers must now use the online VaccinateWA system to complete the vaccination consent form to consent to their child receiving vaccinations while at school.

Please register consent or decline by no later than 20 February.

College Medication Procedure

Where possible, student medication should be administered by parents outside of school hours. 

  • Please ensure that all prescribed Medication required during the school day for your child is administered through the Health Centre.
  • If a parent requests the College Nurse administer medication to their child, the parent must complete a Medication Request Form, which is available from the Health Centre. The medication must be in its original container and clearly labelled with the following:   
    • Child’s name
    • Name of medication             
    • Expiry date
    • Dose and time to be administered
  • If a parent provides their child with prescribed medication to self-administer during the school day, the parent must provide only a single measured dose for one school day to their child. Medication must be locked in the student’s locker.
  • Students diagnosed with asthma are requested to carry their reliever medication with them at all times. Students must have their asthma medication with them during off-site and out-of-school e.g., sports, excursions, camps etc.
  • Students with diagnosed anaphylaxis are requested to carry their EpiPen (adrenaline auto-injector) with them at all times (if age-appropriate). Students must carry their EpiPen and Action Plan to all off-site and out-of-school hours activities, e.g., sports, excursions, and camps.
  • Students with diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes are requested to carry their “hypo kit”at all times. Students must have a “hypo kit” with them during off-site and out-of-school activities, such as sports, excursions, and camps.
  • Students with other diagnosed medical conditions requiring prescribed medication eg. migraine, allergies, are requested to carry one dose of their medication with them when attending offsite school activities eg: sport, excursions, camps.
