Welcome to Ms Sophia Wasley, Voice teacher
Welcome to our new Voice teacher, Sophia Wasley.
Sophia has an extensive history with the Victorian Opera Company, having taken on various roles in their productions over the years.
Some of her major roles include portraying Cricket, Pepik, and Fox-Cub in Cunning Little Vixen; Yniold in Pelleas et Melisande; andFredrika Armfeldt in Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music.
Graduating in 2022, Sophia has a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Here, she enjoyed remarkable performance opportunities, such as playing Gretel in the 2022 opera production of Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck, and in Freeze Frame Opera's Christmas at the Quarry.
Her debut with the West Australian Opera company came in 2023, where she played Little Red Riding Hood in Stephen Sondheim's Into The Woods.
Sophia employs a primarily classical technique in her teaching, having been raised by two opera singers and classically trained herself. She utilises these techniques across multiple music genres in order to give the students a strong foundation in their singing so they can be prepared to sing anything.
Sophia also focuses heavily on the acting side of things and the student’s connection to their lyrics. She's very excited to be working with the talented students of Kilvington this year.
