Over the past fortnight, the Year 1/2's have begun to show their teachers what they are capable of. My oh my, these are some intelligent young students!

In literacy, our students have pushed themselves to write stories with nothing to help them but a picture. They rose to the challenge by planning their characters, their settings, and the events of their story. Afterwards, they began translating their wonderful thoughts onto paper. Some students even had an attempt at editing their own work. Wonderful!

In numeracy, we have focussed on Place Value and identifying the value of different numbers. With physical materials at their disposal, our students are able to show the difference between units, tens, hundreds and thousands! To demonstrate how mathematically intuitive they are, the 1/2's can even compare two numbers, and fill in the missing numbers of a 100's chart.
