Lost Property

Thank you to all families who have ensured their children’s uniforms have been clearly labelled.

ENPS encourages students to be responsible and care for their uniform, bags and lunch containers, and to locate missing items in the lost property in a timely manner before a staff member needs to do this job.

The lost property tub is located in the quadrangle outside the Year Three Learning Neighbourhood.

Please name all your clothing and ensure you collect YOUR OWN UNIFORM.

Some handy tips for labelling items:

  • use a thin permanent marker so the name is clearly identifiable and doesn't wash off or bleed together and blur
  • ensure it has first name and surname initial, or first initial and surname - with over 600 students at ENPS there are a lot of with the same name!
  • iron-on patches or stitching in names works really well
  • try to put their name on multiple places on the item
  • containers need names on the tops and bottoms
  • name everything - you would be surprised just what ends up in lost property!

Early Pick Ups

We'd like to remind parents and carers that if you are planning to pick up your child/ren from school early, it is very important that you:

  • Let the office know by calling 9379 3979 or sending an email to essendon.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au
  • Let your teacher know by communicating this through a Compass email
  • Phone the school when you are on your way so that we can ensure your child is at the office waiting
  • Pick up your child/ren before or after lunch where possible - often students cannot hear us paging their name on the PA system while they are active throughout lunch play time (1:30pm - 2:15pm).

While we also understand that collecting your child early is necessary on certain occasions and that picking them up a bit early might need to take place, we do request that if you can wait till 3:15pm then please do so. We often have parents wanting to pick up children right before the afternoon bell. Please also understand that it is not acceptable to pick children up early to make weekly swimming/sport/activity classes. It is expected that such additional activities are organised outside of the school hours and are not to impact the school day. The end of the day is a very busy time in the classrooms and in the office and we appreciate your support and understanding.

Your assistance in communicating any early departures with both the office and your child's teacher is appreciated and will be very helpful to all involved.

Student Absences

Schools are requested by the Department of Education to upload attendance/absence data on a daily basis. It is important that if your child is not attending school that you enter this into Compass the day before or morning of their absence. This is applicable for all students from Foundation to Year Six.

Your child’s classroom teacher marks the roll in the morning by 8:50am. This is why our school gates close at 8:50am and all late comers must come in through the office. Rolls are then also marked in the afternoon following lunch each daily. If you have any concerns, you can email your child’s teacher directly via Compass (see guide on our Compass Guides page). Please be aware that if you do not enter your child’s absence on Compass, your child’s teacher will mark the student as unexplained and our system will automatically email you about this before 10am each day. You will need to update this soon as possible.

Please see the guides on our Compass Guides page for how to enter an absence in Compass. If you are unclear on how to complete this please call the office and we will talk you through this process. It is parents/carers' responsibility to enter their child/ren’s absence on Compass (not the teacher or the office).

Thank you,

ENPS Office Team
