Wellbeing at ENPS

Welcome back to school! We hope that both our students and families feel refreshed and ready for the exciting year ahead. We were thrilled to reconnect with our school community once again, and our commitment to fostering the wellbeing of all students remained a priority, particularly during this time of transition.

Recognising the importance of a positive and supportive school environment, our staff have been designing learning experiences to foster the personal and social capabilities of all. Below are some experiences our students were involved in across various cohorts:

Classroom Environment: Students have actively participated in designing and organising their classroom layout, fostering independence, ownership, self-motivation, and a sense of belonging.

Essential Agreements: Together, students and teachers have collaboratively developed essential agreements. These agreements outline shared expectations for an optimal learning environment where everyone can thrive and achieve their best.

Respectful Relationships: Guided by the Resilience, Rights, and Respectful Relationships curriculum, students have been developing their emotional literacy, learning how to recognise and name emotions they feel, recognise emotions in others, empathise, and show kindness.

The Resilience Project: Guided by The Resilience Project and its three key values – Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness – students have been further supported to develop their emotional literacy, whilst also participating in fun games such as Emotion Statues and Celebrity Heads.

School-Wide Positive Behaviours: Students have engaged in reflections on our school-wide positive behaviours matrix. They were encouraged to consider how they could embody the values of safety, kindness, and respect in their daily actions.

The Zones of Regulation: Students have learned about The Zones of Regulation and the strategies they could use to regulate their emotions and actions. This enhanced their control and problem-solving skills effectively.

'Who We Are' Unit of Inquiry: Our ongoing 'Who We Are' unit promotes skills in cooperation, collaboration and community building, fostering a sense of belonging. These inquiry lessons have supported students in forming relationships with their new classmates.

Resilience and Growth Mindset: Students learned about growth mindset and the power of perseverance and resilience so they can approach challenges with determination and courage.

These experiences, among many others, showcase some of the wonderful learning opportunities for students. We are both proud and excited to continue this learning and look forward to a year filled with learning, discovery, and positive connections.
