Beyond the Classroom

Welcome back to a brand-new year of exciting opportunities to challenge students in all areas of learning.

Over the year there are several competitions and programs available for students to participate in. I will update you on these as the details become available, so stay tuned.

Some of the opportunities will be suitable for all students; however, sometimes they will be available specifically for high ability students who are working at least 12-months or more above expected level.

Coming up this year:

  • ICAS competitions
  • Bebras competition
  • Science Talent Search
  • Essendon North Primary Writing competition
  • Maths Olympiad
  • G.A.T.E.WAYS Challenge
  • G.A.T.E.WAYS Leadership program

G.A.T.E.WAYS Programs

G.A.T.E.WAYS aims to cater for children who are highly able. Programs are delivered at a faster pace than in the regular classroom and are pitched around two years ahead of chronological age. Along with school programs, G.A.T.E.WAYS also offers out-of-school programs.

The Brainwaves Clubs are taking enrolments at Alphington Grammar School, Forest Hill College, and Brighton.

Beyond Online offer students a deep dive into a topic that happens over four sessions. They encompass progressive skill building, continuous feedback, and focused learning. Your child can attend one session or all four as each session builds on previous skills but are not pre-requisites.
