Performing Arts

Hi everyone!

Woah! It’s great to be back in the Performing Arts space after the school holidays and working with all the new 2024 classes. 

For the first week of Term One, Performing Arts and Visual Arts classes have worked collaboratively to set the tone for the school year. This lesson included drama ice-breaking activities, the introduction of the School Wide Positive Behaviours in the Arts and the creation of an Arts Title Page. Have a look at our School Wide Positive Behaviour ‘Essential Agreement’ below… Each student signed off one behaviour with their thumbprint. This behaviour will be their focus for the school year in The Arts. 

I have Nicki Myszka and Morgan King joining me in Performing Arts this year. They will teach a class each, which is pretty exciting and a new experience for Nicki. All year levels will have the same central idea for Term One Drama - ‘We can combine our body movements, facial expressions, gestures and voice to create a drama performance’ -  but they will be exploring different topics. The year level term topics are:

Foundation - Expressive Skills

Year One - Fairy Tales and the ‘How We Express Ourselves’ Linked Unit with the classroom and other Specialist Areas (Mandarin and Visual Arts)

Year Two - Fairy Tales

Year Three and Four - Short Stage Plays

Year Five and Six - Clowning
