Netball
With the Term Four netball nearing the end of the season, the College teams once again put in great performances.
College Sapphires went up against the Tarrington Twisters and showed great teamwork throughout the court and supporting one another; they went down, 24 to 13. The score really didn’t demonstrate the game, with everyone putting in hard work and effort.
College Rubies took on Gray Street Maroon, but unfortunately it wasn’t their day with the end score of 4 to 12. There was a standout performance from Daisy, who had great intercepts down the defensive end of the court with her hands over every ball, getting tips and turnovers from most of them. The score didn’t reflect the girls’ performance and hard work, keeping everyone bright and happy with their cheerful teamwork.
College Firebirds took on Monivae Blue, with outstanding passages of play and an excellent win of 31 to 26. Celestine and Poppy Malseed have been improving every week, which is fantastic. There was some great rebounds, and Olivia Baulch offered lots of movement in the goal circle to create space and shoot effectively. Thanks to our Junior School fill-ins – Pat and Nate – they were instrumental in the win!
The College Mavericks went out with a bang against Monivae Red, with an outstanding win of 39 to 13. The teamwork and outstanding sportsmanship that everyone brings each week translates on the court.
College Thunderbirds played strongly against rival team Monivae Orange, with an end result of 29 to 25, a very good win for the College girls. Felicity Rentsch played very strongly, and each and every game is becoming more familiar with how the team plays down the court. Another player who stepped up was Sophie Spence, who went hard at the ball and took every ball with confidence, drive and determination.
College Vixens played against Baimbridge, with a huge win of 45 to 4. A big shout out to Naomi Lee and Rubi Thomas, who were both instrumental in their roles in WD and WA. They have continued to improve each week, becoming crucial links between defence and attack.
I would again like to thank everyone who makes the games go ahead and makes everything run so smoothly. Thank you to our umpires, coaches, parents and especially all our players who show up each and every week. And a great thank you to Mrs Ogle who helps with organisation for each team.
