Well done to all senior students on their approach to their examinations this week. On the whole, they have been focussed, organised, disciplined and effective in their study and I am confident this will translate into the results they hope for in each exam. At assembly last week I spoke about how students should not need luck if they are well prepared, and it has been pleasing to see their level of preparation and application throughout the week.
Staffing Updates 2026
With staffing confirmed for 2026, I am pleased to advise of the following appointments or changes in teaching and administrative staff:
Food Technology
Mel McDonald stepping back next year to focus on her teaching studies and farm commitments. I am very pleased to advise that Old Collegian Lisa Lowin will be joining the staff next year to teach Food Technology to years 7-10. She will be joined in the area by current staff, Jo Porter and Amy Andrews.
Finance Department
After more than 20 years of service to the College, Ann Sutherland is retiring at the end of year from her position as Finance Assistant. I am grateful to Ann for her careful and good work and wish her every happiness in her retirement. We’re fortunate that Nichole Atchison will move into Ann’s role from the beginning of the year.
Head of Learmonth House
Ben Singh will take over the leadership of Learmonth House in the Senior School from the beginning of 2026. Belinda Nichols is remaining at the College but is relinquishing this important pastoral role after three years.
Head of English
Georgina Hodge will be taking on the position of Head of English from the beginning of next year. Georgina is well-known to the College community as a current EAL teacher, and former English and EAL teacher and head of house. Georgina takes over from Helen Henry who is taking a year’s leave from the College.
We are fortunate to have a talented, stable and dedicated staff here at the College, a situation that is not the case in many schools. I look forward to working with the incoming staff listed here and know that they will build on the good work of those they replace, all of whom go with our very best wishes.
