Year 5/6 Team News

with Christina, Emma, Molly, Bianca I, Bianca R, Matt & Brittlee

Hello Year 5/6 families,

It is will great pride that we congratulate our 5/6s on a very successful end to our term… and 2025 school year! Students have worked hard all year long and are now getting to enjoy some well-deserved fun!

We enjoyed the fruits of our labour last week with our inquiry board game day. Students were able to test out and give a peer edit by playing another group’s electrical board game. We were very impressed with their creativity, sportsmanship, and overall teamwork during this time.

On Tuesday we had a lovely quiet day with our Grade 6s attending their orientation days at their 2026 high school. We have heard nothing but great things about their day and are feeling their excitement. Our Grade 5s enjoyed meeting their 2026 teachers and classmates completing a ‘Get to Know You’ profile for their new teacher and discussing all the things they are looking forward to in 2026.

Tomorrow, Friday 12th December, we celebrate our graduating class of Grade 6. It is a special day, and we look forward to welcoming family and friends to the event. Communications were updated on Tuesday 9th with details for student drop off at 5pm on Cecil Street and parent entry via the double gates on Electra St. The ceremony will be held under the shade sail in front of the library starting at 5:30pm.

What’s Coming Up in the Classroom?

Monday: Picnic Day: We will be enjoying a movie session in the morning and our annual 5/6 picnic on the oval during the middle sessions. Students have brought home notes about the event and made plans with friends for what they need to bring. The afternoon will feature a special surprise!

Tuesday: Buddy Ice Cream Day! We will be venturing off at different times with our buddy classes to Sadler Reserve (playground opposite Williamstown Beach) and enjoying an ice cream together. They will need to have $5 in cash for the van. Unfortunately, eftpos cannot be used. Students will also have lunch with their buddy class and share their handmade books made especially for their junior buddy.

This day we also ask that students bring their KK gift to place under the tree, ready for Friday.

Wednesday: Adventure Park Excursion: This requires students to be at school on time and wearing school uniform over the top of their swimwear. They will need to ensure that they have appropriate SunSmart swimwear, sunscreen, wide brim hat, drink bottle and their lunchbox for the day. All devices will be handed in and will remain at school until our return. Should our return to school be later than 3:30pm dismissal, a compass post will be sent out for families.

Thursday: Williamstown Beach Day: The same requirement for Adventure Park will apply for Beach Day- school uniform over the top, SunSmart swimwear, wide brim hat, drink bottle and lunchbox for the day. We will be walking to and from the beach for this day. Students will move between the WSLSC pool, lawn and sand area on this day.

Friday: Last Day! We will be having a lengthy whole school assembly in the morning featuring performances from our bands. This will be hosted by our 2025 Grade 6 award winners. At 11:30am, students will meet with their new teacher for 2026 and our departing students will be able to sign their uniforms or memorabilia. We suggest they bring along their own sharpie for this. At 12pm we will return to our 2025 classes and enjoy our final session together and share in our Kris Kringle. At 1:15pm we will move an assembly with final farewells from our principals and celebrate with our graduating 6s as they throw their hats into the air! Once a Willy Kid…always a Willy Kid!

The 2025 5/6 Team would like to thank you all for being such a supportive and trusting parent group. We have truly enjoyed our year with your lovely 5/6s and wish you all a safe and happy new year.

Warm regards,

The Grade 5/6 Team - Christina Crosland (5/6C), Emma Chang (5/6E), Molly Hedditch (5/6H), Bianca Italiano & Bianca Russo (5/6I), Matt Eason-Jones (5/6M) & Brittlee Salvo (5/6S)
