Le Français

Bonjour

 

This fortnight, Foundation started work on the nursery rhyme "L'araignée Gypsy".

They listened to the rhyme and practised singing it with actions and correct French pronunciation.

They also practised the famous song "Sur le Pont d'Avignon" with actions and discussed the importance of the Rhône river and its history of flooding and facilitating navigation througout  France. Nowadays, lots of cruise ships go past this bridge, with tourists from all around the world , including Madame and Monsieur Higgins :)

Grade 1 and 2 worked on written vocabulary work related to "La Maison". They also practised their French pronunciation with partners to provide evidence of good recall and listening skills. Did you know that "garage" is a French word? It was introduded to English in 1902 originating from the word "garer" which means shelter.

Grade 3 and 4 have started work on another famous French couturier: Christian Dior .

They learned about the "A line" dresses that identified the Dior fashion concept and contrasted it to the straight lined little black dress designed by Chanel.

Grade 5 and 6 worked on completing their digital bilingual book on daily routine and recorded their French pronunciation to demonstrate recall of authentic French sounds and intonation.
