Year 6 Spirituality Day

Last week, our Year 6 students came together for their Spirituality Day – a special tradition that marks the beginning of their final chapter as primary school students. The theme of the day centred around the story of David and Goliath. Through scripture, discussion and creative reflection, students explored how courage, faith and trust in God can help them overcome the challenges that lie ahead.

It was inspiring to see our Year 6 students identify their own “Goliaths” – moments that might feel big or daunting – and to reflect on how God’s presence can guide them through change, especially as they prepare for high school. They also spent time in prayer, quiet reflection and laughter-filled conversations with friends, recognising how far they’ve come and how much they’ve grown.

The day ended with shared planning for their Mass of Graduation. As we move closer to this special celebration, we keep our Year 6 students in our prayers, asking God to bless them with courage, kindness and confidence to step into their next adventure.

Preparing Our Hearts for Advent

It is hard to believe that December and therefore Advent, is around the corner. As we enter the season of Advent this Sunday, our hearts turn toward the coming of Jesus. Advent is a time of hope and joyful waiting – a moment to slow down, prepare and make room for Christ in our lives. In the hustle and bustle of the season, we are invited to pause, pray and notice God at work among us.

I encourage you to attend mass and discuss ways your child/ren are preparing for Advent. Advent is the perfect time for small acts of kindness and gratitude. Whether it’s showing friendship to someone new, helping at home or taking an extra moment to pray, each action helps us prepare for the gift of Jesus at Christmas.

As the candles on the Advent wreath are lit week by week, they remind us of the growing light of Christ shining in our hearts and in our community.

Wishing you a blessed start to Advent,
