A Message from the Assistant Principal

Leadership Bootcamp

Over the past three weeks, I have had the pleasure of connecting with many Year 5 students who chose to participate in an experiential leadership opportunity that was an invitation to all students in Year 5. We are proud of the students who have taken up the opportunity to commit to and learn in this experience.

Our sessions have focused on three key themes:

  • Needing to be, in order to have…
  • From me to we…
  • From doing what you enjoy to doing what needs to be done…

This bootcamp has highlighted the importance of shifting the mindset from finding a leader to being a leader, encouraging students to take ownership, demonstrate responsibility, and make a positive impact in the community.

An important insight we discovered along the way was the power of being extraordinary in the ordinary, recognising that leadership isn’t always about big moments, but about making a difference in everyday actions.

An overarching inspiration came from St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, who inspires us with her words “never see a need without doing something about it”.

Bathroom Expectations

STMM’s is asking for the community to help reinforce the importance of respecting our school bathrooms. We continue to have instances of bathrooms being misused, left untidy, or not cared for.

If you can discuss with your child/ren the importance of treating school facilities with respect with the below key points this would help support how we wrap around ensuring our bathrooms are respected.

When using the bathrooms:

  • Keep them clean and tidy
  • Use facilities appropriately
  • Report any mess to staff rather than leaving it

Additional guidance to support good habits:

  • Use the toilet, flush, wash your hands, and leave promptly
  • The bathroom is not a play area
  • Understand that hygiene is important for everyone’s health.

Together, we can ensure our school remains a safe and welcoming environment for all students. Your support in reinforcing these expectations at home is greatly appreciated.

In Christ
