Restorative Practices

As we begin another exciting school year, we are proud to share the positive start we have had at St. Mary's. Over the past two weeks, our teachers have been working closely with learners to reinforce our school routines, values, and expectations, ensuring that every learner understands what it means to be a part of our learning community.

Our unified approach provides every learner with a clear understanding of what is expected, allowing them to focus on their learning in a structured and supportive environment. Our  school values—Be Respectful, Be Inclusive, Be Safe, and Be Your Best—are at the heart of what we do. By embedding these values in our daily routines and interactions, we create a culture where learners can thrive academically and socially.

High expectations play a crucial role in maintaining a positive learning environment. Our classrooms are designed as dedicated spaces for learning, and our teachers have established routines that support students in making the most of their time in class. Research shows that clear expectations and structured environments lead to better learning outcomes, and we are already seeing the benefits of this approach. Our learners have responded exceptionally well to the consistency and clarity provided, and we are pleased to see our school culture strengthening as a result.

The whole-school approach we continue to build upon ensures that every student, in every classroom, experiences continuity in expectations and support. This means that no matter where they are in the school, learners are met with the same language, routines, and guidance, making transitions between classes smoother and reinforcing positive behaviours across all year levels.

We look forward to a fantastic year ahead, filled with growth, achievement, and success for all our learners.
