Level 4

What another great fortnight we have had! Level 4 sport started on Tuesday afternoon and students brought home their first week of homework. Some of our students also had the opportunity to connect with the Grade 2 students.

Literacy

In Writing, students have been exploring narratives and have been discussing how problems can drive the storyline. Students are also learning how to delve deeper into the key elements of an engaging narrative. We have started to read  'My Place' which explores Australian history through the perspective of different children living in the same location over time. The illustrations engage the students with rich visual storytelling and enable them to apply reading strategies such as summarising and making connections.

Maths

Students have been applying their knowledge of the place value system to help them with rounding and renaming numbers. They have been learning to understand the idea of renaming a number without changing its value. Grade 4 have had a great time participating in hands-on games, which allow them to work collaboratively to apply their learning.

Inquiry

Students have begun researching some information about the history of First Nations people and how and why the British colony was established in Australia. They have been discussing why history is important and students concluded that 'it can teach you about traditions and how things have changed over many years.'
