Level 3

Literacy

This week in Reading and Writing, students have been exploring narrative writing by analysing the key components of a story. They have been focusing on creating bold, captivating beginnings to engage their readers from the start.

In reading, we’ve had fun with 'Pig the Blob', where students examined the author’s purpose, perspective, and use of interesting words. They have also been applying these strategies to their independent reading, enhancing their comprehension and enjoyment of the books they’ve been reading. Here are some examples of 'Pig the Blob' being told from another characters perspective/point of view.

Maths

In Maths this week, students have been working on understanding place value, odd and even numbers, and problem-solving strategies. They had a great time participating in hands-on games, which allowed them to work collaboratively to solve problems involving odd and even numbers. These activities provided a fun and interactive way for students to deepen their mathematical skills and apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Homework Update

Homework was sent out on Monday. Students are encouraged to read for 20 minutes each night and fill in their reading journals.

They can also complete 5 minutes of spelling using their chosen spelling words and the spelling activity grid provided in their books.

**Maths homework will begin next week. A sheet will be sent home, and students can work on it for around 5 minutes each night.

Your child's classroom teacher will check homework on a Monday, so please ensure their folders and journals are sent to school on a Monday.
