Level 1

Writing

The Level 1 students have been focusing on improving their sentence writing skills. We've been working on using capital letters, correct punctuation, incorporating verbs and adding adjectives to make our writing more engaging. We're also learning about the 5W's (who, what, when, where, why) to help us recount special events from our weekends and include them in our work. The students have thoroughly enjoyed developing their writing abilities and have created many wonderful sentences that they have shared with one another.

Maths

We have been so fortunate to have had beautiful weather and to take our learning outside! In Maths, we have been practising how to record data by using tally marks. When we ventured out to our play areas, we located and recorded some of the different types of rubbish we could find in our yard and recorded our findings. It was such a fun way to learn how to record data!

We have also been exploring our 100s chart. This experience has helped us to find and recognise number patterns and practise our counting. We have discovered many patterns such at skip counting by twos, fives and tens as well as even and odd numbers.

Assembly

1RH and 1MY are excited about our upcoming assembly performance! We have been working hard, practising our song and using everything we’ve learned in class to write our own sentences. While we’re all a bit nervous about performing in front of an audience, we are incredibly excited about the chance to shine on stage. We can’t wait to share our hard work with our peers, teachers, and families, and to feel the support and excitement from everyone who will be watching. It’s going to be a memorable experience, and we’re all looking forward to it!
