It has been a wonderful start to what promises to be an exciting year for the Year 6 students in 2025. The children have adjusted smoothly to life back at school after the long holiday break and classroom activities have commenced in earnest.
Year 6 Camp 12th – 14th March
Year 6 camp payments and medical/dietary forms are now on Compass for you to complete. We cannot stress enough that you must take your time in filling out the information carefully online. The dietary information is an absolute necessity so please do not assume that we know everything we need to know about your child. It is also imperative that this is completed by the due date, 28th February.
We have sent home the camp equipment list with your child. The shoes that are needed for horse riding require a small heal. A pair of shoes like Blundstones are perfect. Some children wore shoes to Sovereign Hill camp last year that would be ideal. We are not asking you to spend a lot of money. These can be purchased cheaply from Kmart or Big W. Of course, lace up boots are absolutely fine too.
If you still have your child’s consent form, please return that as soon as possible. Camp staff require this form and no form means no activity participation.
Year 6 Hoodies
As you are aware, Compass is now open for the Year 6 memento hoody for 2025. We cannot accept orders after 25th February. Orders will be submitted straight to PSW once the payments close on this day and the process will begin for production.
We still have the samples should you wish to come to the Learning Centre to try one on with your child. If you order a hoodie and think it is the wrong size, it cannot be changed. A reminder that this is NOT a compulsory piece of school uniform.
We were informed that the original design the students chose will not fit their names so we have made a different choice to ensure every child’s name will be on the back of the jumper. Students have been made aware of this and have seen the new design. Unfortunately we could only make one choice, but the children were adamant that their names should be visible and were understanding of the need to change designs. Please be aware that the jumpers could take up to 12 weeks to be completed from the date that your orders are due.
Over their first three weeks back at school, the Year 6 students worked in small project teams that came up with a proposal to improve an area of the school. The students were required to stick to a budget of $1000 and create a proposal with clear planning for how their idea would be implemented. The project teams then presented their finished project to their classmates before a winning team was chosen from each class to present to the entire year level. One of the winning class entries will eventually be chosen as the proposal that is approved for the school. The finalists ideas were:
