Homework Expectations, Diaries & Blue Satchels

As you hopefully know by now, students in Year 3 started homework this week. Your child should have brought home their homework books on Monday, with the list of expectations and activities that need to be completed before it is due.

This year, we use a student diary in Year 3. The diary replaces the reader cover from the junior school years. We are asking all students to record their nightly reading under the date they have read (please list the name of the book, minutes spent reading, and have a parent/guardian sign it off). This will be checked each fortnight when homework is due.

We ask that diaries come to school each day in the child's blue satchels. These satchels are handy to keep things together, put decodable reader books or library books safely into or bring home notices and pieces of work. It would be great to encourage students to get into a routine of bringing their satchel and diary to school every day.

Contacting Teachers

A reminder that if you are required to pick your child up from school during the day for any reason, to please email the classroom teacher. This will help us ensure that students are ready at the office with their bags packed.

If your child is going to be away from school for any reason, we ask you put this onto Compass, so we are aware of their absence when completing the roll in the morning.

House Athletics

House Athletics is being held on Wednesday 5th March. All information regarding this will come from our P.E Specialist teacher Clinton Walsh, and permission form and payment will be found on Compass. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in a range of different sports and experiences.

Students will be asked to bring a small backpack with their snack and lunch, their school hat and a water bottle. There is no need to bring anything else to school on this day.

Students are allowed to wear their house colours - however, school uniform rules still apply in that they need to be wearing appropriate shoes, and have shoulders covered.

If you can find a spare few minutes, and a keen athlete, perhaps you could organise some running or jumping practice at home before the Athletics day!

Camp

Please note that Year 3 camp will be occurring on April 22nd to April 23rd - the first two days of Term 2. All the information you need will be coming home shortly so please look out for that. We will also include the information in the next Newsletter.
