Hello Vermont PS & Kindergarten families,
What a great few weeks we have had with students continuing their amazing work and settling so well. A huge congratulations to our Foundation students who have made a brilliant start. Starting school can be an exciting, exhausting and exhilarating time and our wonderful foundation students have taken everything in their stride. They have started with confidence and energy, and are quickly learning their new routines and expectations.
We are so excited to announce that we are holding our annual Colour Run this term on Friday March 21. This event has been run for the past couple of years and has become a much loved part of the school calendar. As well as being a fabulous day of colour and fun for students and staff, it is our major fundraiser for the year. In previous years the funds raised have gone toward upgrades to the Stadium. This has included the resurfacing of the area surrounding the building, the addition of the Table Tennis tables and new fencing, and the upgrades to the bike shed. The Stadium floor is something we are keen to replace as well, but this is a much bigger job and we are seeking support from different government departments to assist with this.
This year, we are hoping to raise funds to install a semi-permanent space outside the Stadium to be used as a 'sensory pod'. We envisage this being a small room/class space to be used by students requiring additional support and intervention, allied health sessions and time with the Learning Inclusion and Support Team. As a school funded project, we predict that this will cost around $50,000 and we would love to be able to use some school raised funds to make it happen.
If you would like to be part of helping to organise the Colour Run, please come along to one of our Community Network meetings and learn more about how you can get involved. Please refer to the Community Network page in this newsletter for more details.

Whole Day Absences:
If your child has missed any days this year please log on to Compass to approve their unexplained absence, if you have not already done so.
Late Arrivals and Early Departure:
If your child is going to be late to school or collected early, please do not enter this on Compass in advance. Parents or carers must sign their student in or out at the Compass Kiosk at the office, this will mark their arrival or departure at the actual time.
As a courtesy to the teacher, an email in advance (where possible) to advise of an early departure is appreciated. This will enable the student to be be packed up and ready to go when you arrive at the school office.
For further information, please see Compass Guide attached.
Schools are expected to take reasonable steps to ensure digital technologies are used in a safe and responsible manner by staff and students. This week we have uploaded documents that will assist you with helping us to ensure our students are safe online.
