We have three students who would love to join a College family for a homestay over the March Long weekend - Friday, 7 March, after school to Monday, 10 March (the Boarding House reopens at midday).
If you would like to host an international student, please get in touch with Andrew Monk.
It is with great delight that I thank the 2024 departing Year 12 cohort of boarders who donated a new Refectory bell to the Boarding House, appropriately engraved and will be a long-lasting memory of their time in boarding and their appreciation of their time here. The new bell has been erected, and this thoughtful gift is used daily... with no worries about ever losing the dinner bell again!
Once again, thank you to our departing 2024 year 12 boarders.
Last week, the annual Valentine's dinner was a plethora of pink. Boarders in both Houses dressed for the occasion, with Speirs House taking out points for the House Cup, which is awarded at the end of the year.
Each theme night, the boarders have a choice for their dinner, and custom-made burgers were the order, and they were delicious! It was a wonderful surprise for our Troopy driver Dennis, who was awarded by the boarders as the ‘best dressed’ of the evening. Congratulations, Dennis, and well done to our GAPPER Rosie, for jumping into the photo, too.
Each Year 12 has a personalised nameplate beside their room. At the end of the year, they can take this as a remarkable memory of their time at the Boarding House.
Have you ever wondered how our girls keep going and going and going?
Early starts, busy during the day at school, and engaged in sports and co-curriculars after school. The girls have a lot of energy and know how to have a good laugh and some fun. The super supper each Wednesday evening is a treat during the Mac House meeting. We alternate with one week of chocolate milk and then the other being a hot supper (such as croissants). One of my favourite photos is below of our girls all smiles just before supper, or is this after a sweet treat? I’m not entirely sure, but they are certainly full of laughs. Go girls.
Congratulations to all our boarders, students, and staff who competed in the Port Fairy Running Festival this past weekend. Boarding Captain Henry Russell and School Captain Jack Jarvis (below) completed the half-marathon in a stellar performance, whilst MOD and teacher Miss K completed the 10k.
Thank you must go to Bree Ryan, the race organiser and parent at the College, who was kind enough to offer a race discount to all College staff and students. It was an amazing event with 5k, 10k, half-marathon, and marathon distances, and I am sure we will have many more take up the challenge at any level in 2026.
An enormous congratulations to Ben Walker, Year 12, who completed his first marathon. A fantastic effort and result. Well done Ben!
All families who would like to take up the opportunity of casual boarding may contact our Registrar, Susie Holcombe, at holcombes@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au. Susie can guide you through the steps of casual boarding and the appropriate paperwork. Many families take up this offering yearly and book their children in on a regular evening. Our girls' House, Macdonald House, is particularly busy, and a booking early in the year is advised.
If you would like to know more about casual boarding, or if you would like to have a walk about the Boarding House, Susie and I would be more than happy to call or meet you face to face and show you arou.
