Education Support

The Bayside Learning Support Team has a new name! We’re now called the Education Support Team—a title that better reflects the range of support we provide. From faith and academics to physical, cognitive, sensory, and social-emotional needs - we are grateful for the opportunity to support and uplift students, helping them grow in confidence and ability.

Primary Literacy Intervention

We are thrilled to announce that Literacy Intervention will be available for Year One and Two students this year!

Students who would benefit from extra support in reading and spelling at their age-appropriate level will have the opportunity to participate in MiniLit Sage, a small-group, evidence-based Literacy Intervention program under MultiLit. Invitations will be extended to selected students to take part in this valuable learning opportunity.

The program will run throughout the year, with students completing their time in the program and new students being invited to join at various points.

Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

Next week (Week 4), Primary Student Support Group (SSG) meetings are taking place. If your child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP), you will have received a link through Booked inviting you to an SSG with Louise Van Niekerk and your child’s teacher. This meeting time allows us to discuss your child’s individual education needs.

Student Profiles

This year, we’re introducing Student Profiles for students who previously had an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for specific subjects. These profiles provide key information to help teachers implement effective strategies for your child's success. Accessible to all teachers, they ensure a consistent, informed approach across subjects. Many secondary students already have received their profiles via AdobeSign, and primary Student Profiles will follow in Semester 2.

IEP’s (formally ILP’s)

Individual Education Plans (IEPs) remain in place for students needing extra support in specific subjects. Developed collaboratively by teachers and parents, these plans outline learning goals, accommodations, and support strategies to help students succeed.

Thank you for your support,

Louise Van Niekerk and Jo Piening, Education Support Coordinators
