3-Year-Old Kindergarten

It was wonderful to welcome the ELC 3 children and families to their first kindergarten sessions. Thank you to all of the family members who spent time in the ELC during the first couple of sessions. It has been wonderful to see the children transition into ELC comfortably and begin to build new relationships with their teachers and peers.

This week, the ELC class read a story about starting school: “First Day”, and met “Gail the Snail”: the ELC puppet for supporting emotional well-being. We talked about the emotion “excited”, and the children jumped up and down along with Gail and clapped their hands. Each week, the class will explore a different emotion and consider the best ways to express each emotion.

4-Year-Old Kindergarten

Firstly, thank you to all our wonderful parents for being so patient and supportive through the staggered sessions.  It was tricky juggling work and organising who was to stay and who was to do drop off/pick up but it was surely worth it because it meant that the children were able to transition back into ELC gradually, into their new class dynamic with much ease.

The children did amazingly well on their first few long days and we are very blessed to have such a settled and happy group of children who are already making new and maintaining old friendships.  The children have been learning how to become more independent by putting their own belongings away, recognising their names and learning each other’s names.

The children are learning a fruit of the spirit each week and reinforcing these positive characters through learning and memorising a weekly Bible verse, which we are encouraging families to learn too.

This week’s fruit of spirit is the fruit of ‘Joy.’

This week’s Bible verse is:

Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

We look forward to a year filled with lots of memorable moments and fun, reaching milestones and potentials.
