Proactive Partnerships
If you need to contact your child/ren's teacher, please use their email to arrange an appropriate meeting (use: firstname.lastname@baysidecc.vic.edu.au). Before homeroom each morning, most teachers are getting organised for the day, so please allow them to do this to prepare for classes, and make another time.
If you have any concerns or want to speak with a teacher, please refer to the classroom teacher in Primary, or the subject teacher in Secondary as the first contact. The coordinators and Heads of Schools may be contacted as communicated by the particular sub-schools.
School Management Systems
Sentral is the system used to monitor student attendance and access Semester reports. CANVAS is used in the Secondary School to monitor student learning, assessment requirements and due dates. Parents have access to both of these systems. Please contact bccsentral.comms@baysidecc.vic.edu.au if you do not have your parent access details set up.
Carpark Expectations
Please remember that the carparks are a shared space and are often crowded in the afternoons at pick-up time. Our primary concern is keeping students safe. Please be patient—there are only 15-20 minutes of busyness each day. To ease congestion and keep traffic moving, please refer to the information email that will soon be sent to all families and share it with others who may bring your children to or collect them from the College.
Carpark tip #1 Keep moving forward in the drop-off zones before collecting students and before merging into the traffic. This allows more families to access the zone and clears the carpark faster.
School Photos
School photos will be taken in Week 4. Secondary Photos are on Monday 17 February. Primary and sibling (family) photos are on Tuesday 18 February. Students must be in Standard Uniform for all photos. If students have PE on this day, they should bring and change into their PE uniform for the class. Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back for all students. Please ensure you assist your children to above the requirements.
PTO now Booked
Please be aware the application formerly known as PTO has had a name change and is now called Booked. The College will be using this platform for parents and carers to book Primary Meet & Greet Interviews and Secondary Parent Teacher Interviews scheduled for early March.
Community Worship Night
We are reintroducing the heart of worship and exploring what it truly means to worship. Join us for our first Worship Night of 2025 on Saturday 1 March from 7pm - 8:30pm in G-Block.
On this special evening, we will be keeping things simple. It will be a relaxed and meaningful worship night, offering the opportunity to surrender your life to God or recommit yourself to Him. As a team, we are incredibly excited about this event—it sets the tone for the year and provides a space for us all to come together and worship God in a genuine, uncomplicated way.
As there will be no child-minding service available on the night, parents are reminded if children attend, they are to be under their parents care and supervision at all time throughout the worship service.
New Parents Dinner
Parents and carers are warmly invited to join us for the Bayside Christian College New Parents Dinner on Thursday 27 February from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the G-Block gymnasium on South Campus. This is a great opportunity to share a meal together, meet other parents and Bayside staff. Although we realise that it can be difficult for families with children to make it out at night during the week, we do ask that at least one parent from each new family be in attendance. Please book prior to Monday 24 February via https://www.trybooking.com/CYWDW
Parent Conferences
Our Primary Meet the Teacher sessions took place this week. If you were unable to attend, please email the teacher to arrange an alternative time.
Secondary Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences are on Tuesday 4 March and Wednesday 5 March. This is a wonderful opportunity to catch up and share our partnership to discuss the progress and plans for best supporting your children's education, both from school and home. Information will be sent out in the next few weeks, regarding how to use our online booking system, Booked, to make time to meet with your children's teachers.
Tuesday 4 March will be a regular school day with appointments after school from 3:40pm to 8pm. Buses will run as normal on this day. Wednesday 5 March appointments will be 10am to 7pm.
Student Free Day
Wednesday 5 March is a student-free day for Primary and Secondary students to allow for Secondary conferences and Primary professional development and planning. The ELC will run its regular program.
Whole School Assembly
The College has two Whole School Assemblies per term. Families are cordially invited to attend. Assemblies will be held on Tuesdays this year from 8:55 am to 9:55 am in the K-block (Secondary) gym. The next one is on Tuesday 4 March. We look forward to seeing you there.
New Parents Induction
The Bayside Christian College New Parents' Induction is taking place on Tuesday 11 March from 7pm-8:30pm in the G-Block gymnasium on South Campus. This annual event provides an opportunity for new parents to gain a deeper insight into the working of the College and ask questions you may have post your journey of enrolment. The induction will provide an introduction to the College exploring who we are as a learning community. We discuss what Christian Education involves, how it works and the stories we are telling. Please book prior to Sunday 9 March via https://www.trybooking.com/CYWKQ
Exchange Students
We are excited to host three exchange students from Kinjo High School in Japan; Misa, Yui and Takamuru. They will be with the Year 10s for most of the term and visit other classrooms on Thursdays as part of their cultural immersion program. Please say hello and make them feel welcome.
Once again, it is a blessing to have you with us at Bayside this year as we partner in Christian education. May 2025 be a wonderful year for you all.
2025 Volunteer Induction
To act as a parent volunteer or helper at camps, excursions, incursions, swimming and athletics carnivals, or in the classroom, you will need to complete the 2025 Volunteer Induction Form and upload a copy of your current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
You will be notified once your application has been approved. Classroom teachers will receive a list of approved parent volunteers, which they will refer to when seeking assistance throughout the year.
If you would like to attend a Parent Volunteer session to learn more about what is involved (though attendance is not compulsory), you are welcome to join us this Friday 14 February, at either 9:00 am or 3:00 pm. Please note that the previously advertised session on 21st February has been cancelled.
School Crossing Count
As part of the council's annual application to the Department of Transport for funding of the School Crossings program the annual vehicle and pedestrian counts will be conducted week commencing Monday 17 February.
If you see a camera mounted on a pole near the school crossing, it is in place for the purpose of vehicle/pedestrian counts. The counts are conducted by Trans Traffic Surveys being councils preferred provider.
Fresh Fruit Friday
A selection of fruit has been kindly donated by Woolworths Langwarrin and will be distributed to students every Friday morning. Any leftover fruit can be taken home with the students at the end of the day.
Anaphylaxis Awareness
Anaphylaxis is a severe, rapidly progressive allergic reaction that is potentially life threatening. The most common allergens in school-aged children are peanuts, eggs, tree nuts (e.g. cashews), cow’s milk, fish and shellfish, wheat, soy, sesame, latex, certain insect stings and medication.
Parents/carers of a student at risk of anaphylaxis are responsible for:
- Informing the Student Health Coordinator at College Reception of the student’s allergies and of any formal diagnosis, either at enrolment or at diagnosis.
- Providing the College with an up to date Anaphylaxis Action Plan.
In the event that a student at risk of anaphylaxis has a reaction, during class or other endorsed College activity (e.g. excursion or sports day), the supervising staff member will follow the student’s Anaphylaxis Action Plan including, if relevant, administering an adrenaline auto-injector as per instructions.
Nut-Free Lunchboxes
In the interests of taking care of our students with anaphylaxis, the College requests parents/carers not supply any food items containing nuts or nut products. Peanuts and peanut products are not sold in the canteen. However, the College cannot guarantee that there will be no trace of peanut products at the College at any given time. It is important that students who have a peanut or other food allergy are aware of their particular allergy and take responsibility for what they consume.
