It’s an exciting time in Junior School Visual Art this term with all classes making three-dimensional sculptures. Much of the work will be made from clay, but we will also be using a range of other materials such as wire, foam, card and tiles.
The Prep students have collected some natural materials from around the school grounds. They will use these to incise a clay disk with different patterns and textures. Year Ones have learnt the clay pinch pot technique as a basis for a monster sculpture. The Year Twos have made a clay base for a coral reef sculpture that will include a variety of materials to make the coral shapes and the sea creatures. Year Three students have been learning how to show movement and will use this understanding to create dancing figures with wire pipe cleaners. In Year Four we have been working on free standing cactus sculptures made from foam and card. These will then be decorated in a range of media.
By the end of the term many other fabulous three dimensional artworks will also be created.
