🌱 Trees for Schools 2025 – Growing Together at Overnewton🌱

We are excited to share that our school was awarded 100 trees through the 2025 Trees for Schools program! This wonderful initiative has helped us create greener spaces, providing shade for the future, and care for our local environment.

With the support of Ms Kasif, the Kindness Collective has already begun planting some of the trees in the Junior School, bringing life and beauty to our grounds.

Next week, the Kindness Collective will be teaming up with Waa’s Helpers to continue planting more trees around our school. By working together, these groups are helping to build a legacy of sustainability, teamwork, and care for the land that future students will enjoy.

We look forward to seeing these trees grow and flourish, reminding us every day of the positive impact we can have when we come together as a community.

Kindness Collective Towel Drive Reflection

Article by Caitlin C, Year 11 Student

Between the 15th of May and the 3rd of June, Overnewton’s Kindness Collective organised a towel drive to gather donations for animals in need. Overnewton students, teachers and families from both Middle School and Senior School had the opportunity to donate unwanted towels in good condition for delivery to the Keilor Veterinary Clinic.

Not only did this initiative build on the school’s sense of community, it provided the Clinic with valuable resources to support and care for sick or injured animals. Four bags were filled thanks to the initiative! The Kindness Collective aims to organise further events to allow Overnewton’s community to thrive.

Waa’s Helpers Lead the Way in Keeping Our School Clean

Over the past few weeks, our amazing Waa’s Helpers have been volunteering their time to make our school a cleaner, greener place. Armed with shiny new rubbish grabbers and looking bright in their pink high-vis vests, they’ve been out and about collecting litter around the grounds.

The new grabbers make picking up rubbish safer and easier, and the vests help our helpers stand out so everyone knows they’re part of this positive initiative. Waa’s Helpers aren’t just improving how our school looks, they’re also inspiring all of us to take pride in our environment.

Next time you see Waa’s Helpers in action, you can join them in their clean-up or simply help by putting your own rubbish in the bin, every small effort makes a big difference!
