Morning Carpark Safety

This is a friendly reminder that our staff begin supervising morning drop-off at 8:30am. Children arriving prior to 8:30am should be supervised by a caregiver until that time.

Young children unsupervised in the car park can be unsafe, and so any children who are unsupervised in the car park prior to 8:30am will be taken to SPLASH (for Before School Care). Usually in this case, SPLASH will waive the fee for the first instance, and provide you with paperwork as needed for you to use morning SPLASH in future. Before School Care is very affordable, and attracts the Child Care Rebate. Please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly SPLASH staff if you would like to know more: splash@stpaulba.sa.edu.au

Note that we are aware that some of our older children walk to school, and that some Year 6 children have slightly different arrangements. We simply ask that you send your child’s teacher an email to let them know of your arrangements so that we are aware and don’t take your child to SPLASH in the morning.

Thanks for supporting us to keep our school and our children safe.

Staffing News

Last week we farewelled Julie Moore from her classroom LSO role. We have some familiar faces to the school supporting in Reception Huxtable as classroom LSOs:

  • Erin Gracey is currently on parenting leave from her teaching role at St Paul and very excited to be back in the school part-time.
  • Abbey Kroon is well known to our children as a SPLASH educator.
  • Tammy Richter a classroom LSO already employed at St Paul, supporting Year 2s.

Physical Activity & Extra opportunities

This week marks the beginning of our Auskick program, adding yet another exciting option to the fantastic range of extracurricular physical activities available to children at St Paul. Already this term, many students have been involved in netball, basketball, and our 150 Dance sessions, and now even more will have the chance to explore Australian football through Auskick. Later this term, we’ll also see a number of students participating in SAPSASA Athletics. It’s been wonderful to see so many of our children being active, developing new skills, and enjoying time with their peers in a setting beyond the classroom.

We are fortunate to have the wonderful Miss Karly Bartlett leading our Sports program and facilitating these opportunities for our children. We extend our heartfelt thanks to her, along with the many parent volunteers whose support helps make these experiences possible.

Physical activity plays a vital role in a child’s healthy lifestyle. Research shows that being active regularly supports cognitive development, strengthens bones, and helps with emotional regulation. Group activities such as dance or team sports also build important social skills, boost self-esteem, and develop resilience.

At St Paul, we are fortunate to be able to offer our students a wide variety of opportunities to get active, and we know many also take part in physical activities within the wider community—whether through dance classes, sports clubs, or their own personal fitness goals. We are proud of every child who steps up to try these different learning experiences and encourage all families to embrace these opportunities whenever they arise.

Well done everyone!

Year 2 Camp

Last week, our Year 2 children attended their first school camp experience at AFL Max. This was a fun and very energetic experience for children, working through four ‘quarters’ of healthy living, and watching an evening movie on the HUGE AFL Max screen. Sincere thanks to all parents who attended to support these children and staff, and to the staff for ensuring a wonderful first camp!
