Year 10 Trades
Students have been busy completing a range of Trades projects, and have settled into Trades exceptionally well.
Personal Projects – Year 11 Trades Focus Students
Students are often required to undertake personal projects in both Metals and Furnishings. The choice of project is negotiated with the trainers, with key considerations including the estimated cost, the student’s ability, the time available, and alignment with course requirements. A letter is then sent home to inform parents of the project details, costs and to request approval. It is College policy that a 50% deposit is paid before the commencement of the project, with full payment required before the project can be taken from the College.
Most materials are available on site and can be purchased directly through the College.
Week 6 – Year 11 Trades Focus Students
Next week, while the Year 11 Farm students are attending the Dowerin Field Day, the Year 11 Trades Focus students will participate in a series of Trades-related excursions.
On Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 August, they will travel to Perth to visit Mineral Resources, Bruce Rock Engineering, Murray Engineering, and Pique Modular Homes.
Year 12 Incursion - Apprenticeship Community
Kym Tierney and Kate North from the Busy At Work group visited Trades this week. They offer expertise in career guidance to our Year 12s, focusing on job opportunities and meeting the standards required in the application process.
Kym brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, offering excellent advice to students wishing to secure an apprenticeship. Based in Perth, she manages the coordination of personnel across the state.
