Term 3 is a busy time for the Career Development Team, with student interviews, VTAC applications for Year 12 students, and subject selection for Years 10 and 11 - all part of our ongoing support to help Senior School students make informed study and pathway choices.

Open Day "season" is upon us!

Each weekend in August TAFE, University, and Independent Tertiary Colleges welcome students on campus to meet their students and staff, attend demonstrations and presentations, participate in hands-on activities and explore their study pathways. All students from year 9 are encouraged to attend an Open Day each year. Students have been reminded to register prior to attending to ensure they maximise their experience on campus.

A list of all Open Days is available here, with ACU (Melbourne Campus) and RMIT (City and Brunswick Campuses) this weekend.

Year 12 Careers Meetings & VTAC Applications

Starting August 11th, every Year 12 student will meet individually with a member of the Career Development Team. These meetings are designed to support students with their post-Year 12 planning, whether that be into tertiary study, vocational training, or employment.

VTAC (The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) is the central point for applications to Victorian universities, TAFEs and Independent Tertiary Colleges for tertiary courses, scholarships and Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS). Our Year 12 students will each set up an account with VTAC on Monday 11th August in Pastoral Care and will be supported to enter their course preferences to activate their application. Students will require a mobile phone to complete multi-factor authentication in the registration process.

Students have been reminded to confirm the following information in order to complete their VTAC registration.

  • USI number (can be retrieved here

  • VCAA number (Senior School Reception staff can assist if needed)

To help students prepare for the VTAC application process, a series of Stile lessons will be delivered during Pastoral sessions and assemblies. These will outline the key steps and ensure that careers meetings are productive and tailored to student goals.

Parents are encouraged to utilise the online resources that VTAC provide to support students in their planning. These include the following Student and Supporter Webinars;

  • Understanding equity schemes and scholarships, Thursday 14 August 2025, and Tuesday 2 September 2025

  • Getting your results - what happens next? Tuesday 9 December 2025

  • Preferences, pathways and offers Thursday 11 December 2025

Register for VTAC webinars here.

Year 10 and 11

Following the Careers Expo and Subject Information evening, year level assemblies, and Pastoral Care lessons, subject selections are now open, and close on Wednesday, 13th August.

Students are strongly encouraged to consult the 2026 Senior School Course Information Guide to make well-informed decisions about their future studies. Additionally, speaking with subject teachers is highly recommended to gain further insight and ensure the best subject choices are made.
