Boarding Recreation - Mr Blair Whitlock

The weekend kicked off with a brilliant boarders arvo feast which always brings good vibes on a Friday afternoon. Thanks very much to all the families that provide baked goods for the boys – it is very much appreciated! After a run around on the ovals we had a BBQ dinner before heading down to Southbank for the new Fantastic 4 movie which received good reviews from the boys on the whole!

Saturday morning saw many boys heading off for their Basketball, Rugby League and Tennis matches. The Year 6-9 boarders who aren’t playing AIC sport take part in the ‘Top Ups’ sessions on Saturday mornings which are generally a circuit workout down in the weights room with some team running to finish off. It’s a great way to start the day and keeps the boys active when they aren’t playing organised sport. The Hive was back together for the 1st XIII Rugby League match against St Laurence’s College. It was great to see many boarders playing in the Premier League side who picked up a 24-18 win on a great day for sport. The rest of Saturday was fairly low key with some boys opting to do extra study and others having a relaxed afternoon before watching the Saturday night footy.

On Sunday we walked up the road to Mater Dei to take part in the community Mass. After lunch we had 45 boys jump on the bus and head into town for a couple of hours at the Queen Street Mall which they always look forward to. By the time we got back to Marist it was 3:30pm and the last activity for the weekend was an hour in the weights room which saw 28 boarders from Years 10-12 get an extra session in to finish the weekend on a high.
