Happy Science Week!
Foundation students have celebrated science week with a celery experiment linked to our Wider Curriculum topic: Living and non-living things.
We have been learning about the parts of plants and animals and what they need. We used coloured water to investigate how a plant takes in water and nutrients through its stem all the way to the leaves.
When we placed the celery into the coloured water, we made some predictions about what was going to happen:
“the bottom of the celery might turn red”
“it might grow another plant”
“the red will go all the way up to the flowers”
“it might be a vegetable”
“it might grow a fruit”
“the whole thing will turn red”
“I think it will be all rainbow”
“it might grow taller”
After our experiment we sequenced the steps in a cut and paste activity.
Check out the results!
Year 6 students have been studying Natural Disasters.
Take a look at some of their information posters about volcanos.
