Foundation

Literacy

The Foundation students are continuing to work hard during their Literacy sessions each day. This week they have enjoyed 'Buddy Reading' where they have read to a friend while focusing on reading fluently.

Sentence writing has continued to be a focus in Foundation this term. The students did an amazing job working with a partner to listen to and write the sentence they had been given on their crown. It was great to see the use of capital letters, spaces and full stops in the sentences.

Maths

Over the past two weeks the students in Foundation have been learning about volume and capacity. They have learnt about the terms full, half full and empty. They used rainbow rice to show their understanding of each of these terms. Students compared the volume of various containers and tested their predictions outside in the sandpit.

Inquiry

The Foundation students are learning about the history of themselves during Term 3. Last week they focused on memories of special events in their lives. After sharing the well known story Wilfred Gordan McDonald Partridge each student had the opportunity to share an item from home that reminded them of a special moment in their life. It was wonderful to see the students excited to share their items with their friends.

Years 1 and 2

Wow! It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of week 8! The term is flying by.

Speaking of wow, the Years 1/2 students were extremely lucky to attend the matinee performance of Aladdin. Students were amazed at the dancing, singing, costumes, lights and atmosphere created by the clever and talented cast and crew. It was wonderful to see the excitement and joy on the faces of our students as they enjoyed the performance.

We also attended a safety session run by the RACV. The session was fun and engaging but also had some very important messages regarding who to go to for help in an emergency or when something is unsafe. We were reminded about the importance of stopping, looking and listening when crossing the road, how to correctly fit a helmet when riding a bike or scooter and the height that we need to be to no longer need a booster or car seat. We should remain in a car or booster seat until we have reached 145cm in height.

Lots of fun was had last Friday to celebrate our Book Week Dress Up day. We saw animals, super heros, Cat in the hats, Where's Wallys, Dorothy's, Little Red Riding Hoods and wolves just to name a few!
