Children’s Book Week

Thank you to the parents and carers who came to our Book Character Parade last Friday, 25th August. Students got into the spirit of the parade and we were very impressed with their participation. We have put together a short video if you would like to see more of the dress ups across primary classes. Check out the school website, log into PAM where the video is first on the list of Library Links or use this link. Book Week Video 2023

Students also enjoyed the lunchtime activities during the week, especially the dancing lyrebirds on Tuesday and the potato printing on Wednesday.

Our runaway winner with 131 votes for Book of the Year was Lionel and Me by Corinne Fenton in the Early Childhood category. The votes went to Frank’s Red Hat by Sean E Avery in the Picture Book category and Runt by Craig Silvey in the Younger Readers category.

At the end of the week, the winner of the Book Week competition was drawn out. Our winner for the major prize was Lillian B in 5/6 with her reef diorama and a drawing as well. Book prizes were also awarded to Jessica B for her reef diorama; Emma C in Year 3/4 for her reef picture; John G for his house cross section illustration; Hudson B for his comic of a trip; Lindsay A for his story In the way of the cat and Piper A for her story Way of the elephant. There were runner up prizes for two groups of three students who entered the House Cross Section competition as a group.  Well done to all who entered and congratulations on the effort you put in.
