Road Safety around Sunbury College 🚦

Parent’s and guardian’s vehicles are not permitted to enter the school car park for drop off and pick up. This approach significantly reduces traffic entering the school gate and reduces the risks associated with extra traffic in the bus lane and turning traffic on Racecourse Rd during periods when there are large amounts of pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

We acknowledge that the traffic around the school can be quite busy at the start and end of the day and encourage students to develop routines that allow them to be picked up and dropped off at appropriate areas in proximity to the school when students can walk 2- 5 minutes at a safe meeting point.

We also ask that parents and guardians encourage their children to take the responsibility to cross Riddell Rd via either the pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights or via the underpass towards Clarke Oval. We continue to see a limited, but worrying number of students make tracks across Riddell Rd without using these safe passages.
