Principal Team's Message

Our Assistant Principals reflect on term three

Naarm Engagement Program

The Year 9 Naarm Engagement Program has been a very positive experience for staff and students this term, with many demonstrating a growth in their social and teamwork skills in their groups. The inquiry project has been a significant undertaking and the development of students through their exploration of topics relevant to their interests has shaped their understanding of history, social behaviours and cultural understanding of NAARM.

A huge thank you to Alicia Gray, Christine Polonidis and Jenny Metcalf for all their logistics management, communication and considered planning, this has provided a really successful program throughout the term.

SWPBS Matrix Renewal

School-wide positive behaviour provides opportunities for students, staff and parents to contribute to the framework which provides a collaborative opportunity for the development of positive, safe and supportive learning cultures within the school community.

SWPBS was introduced at Sunbury College in 2018 and throughout that time the learning and development of the framework has led to a stage of renewal for staff and students. In recent weeks staff have reviewed the classroom and non-classroom matrics which provide positive prompts of agreed expected behaviour. Throughout Term 4 students will have the opportunity to have their perspective heard and contribute to a renewed matrix which will be developed and installed throughout the school in 2024.

We would like to encourage Parents to provide feedback about the current matrix through this Google form.

Parent Student Teacher Interviews 👩🏼‍🏫

As we navigate the current academic year, we want to take a moment to recognise the importance of our Parent-Teacher interviews. We are thrilled to report a significant increase in bookings by parents and guardians when compared to previous years. This heightened engagement speaks volumes about our strong and supportive school community.

These interviews are a vital opportunity for us to connect, collaborate, and ensure your child's academic journey is on the right track. They allow us to discuss your child's progress, strengths, and areas that may need improvement. Together, we can provide the support needed for their continued growth and success. We continue to encourage all parents and guardians to participate in these conversations, in our future interviews.

Safeguarding student belongings 🔐

Lockers play an essential role in our school environment, providing a safe place for students to store their belongings, including equipment and phones. We'd like to remind everyone of the importance of keeping lockers securely locked when not in use. This precaution helps prevent theft and ensures that students' valuable possessions are protected.

Bag Free Zone During Period 5 🎒

We are seeing an increase in the number of students bringing their school bags to period 5. Please remind your child that bringing their bag to class during Period 5 is not permitted. This expectation helps maintain a focused and organised learning environment during that crucial time of the day. Students are expected to access their bags at the end of the school day.

Preparing for the 2024 Academic Year - Junior School

It's never too early to start thinking about the future. As we approach the end of this academic year, students should begin mentally preparing for the challenges and opportunities that the 2024 academic year will bring. Now is the time to finalise assessments, catch up on any outstanding work, and set personal goals for the upcoming year.

Congratulations to all of the Cast and staff involved in the School Production🎸

A big congratulations to all of our talented cast who performed ‘School House Rock’ this term. This year our students performed in front of  200 primary students and two full houses. We are very proud of the cast’s enthusiasm, energy and commitment to their rehearsals and performances. It was a fabulous success to be back after 4 years without the production.

At the beginning of term 4. All of our school community will be able to vote on their preference for the 2024 production, selecting one from 3 contemporary shows. More information will be provided soon. A massive thank you to all of our dedicated staff and volunteers who assisted with the show. Particularly our very talented director Candeece Brown. We are very excited about what lies ahead in 2024.
