Gala Day

Name a better way to start spring than representing St Joseph's at the Armidale Diocesean netball and soccer gala day, and this is exactly what 32 students did last Friday. St Joey's was represented by 3 teams, an Opens netball and soccer team, along with a 10-year soccer team.

It was a slow start to the day, although as it began to warm up so did our teams. This was evident with our open soccer team as they started to form combinations and win games. The team did an amazing job throughout the day and were lucky enough to make the semi-finals thanks to some amazing teamwork and more than 1 spectacular save from school Vice-captain Chaise Kelly.

Over at the netball, the girls toiled away in the hot conditions. The team showed plenty of promise, winning 4 games throughout the day. This was a huge effort as the St Joey's team consisted of 4 Stage 2 girls, playing up an age group. Ella Sheehan said "It was a great day, we worked together really well and had loads of fun" while Jenny Ho said the best part of the day was the KFC!

A huge thank you to Jody Stevens, Jason Mihell and Randall Cashen, along with all of our parents who helped throughout the day. Without you, a day like this wouldn't be possible.

Basketball

Please note that there will be NO BASKETBALL TRAINING this week at school.

There are also NO GAMES this week. Games will recommence in Week 2, October 19th.

Term 2 Sport

Thank you Mitch Power from Perform with Power Tennis Academy for providing our students with the opportunity to develop and enhance their tennis skills throughout this term.

Meet ONE of our Armidale Diocesan Representatives for 2023

Meet Ella Sheehan...

Ella is in Year 6 at St Joseph's Primary School and is a well rounded young sportswoman.

Ella has represented the School in Netball, Athletics and Cross Country. She has also gained selection in the Armidale Diocesan Netball Team that took part in the Polding Netball Trials.

When asked what sport Ella enjoys the most she answered netball because it is fun to do, especially on a Saturday.

Ella's advice to other sporting achievers is to try new sports and persevere with them!

Ella's sporting hero that she looks up to is Liz Watson (Netball).

Well done Ella.
