Girls in Stem

This week we hosted LEIDOS, a company focused on a variety of STEM careers throughout the globe.  They contract to the military and various other government agencies, specialising in the various aspects of STEM. LEIDOS have a very strong university graduate program and attractive and flexible working conditions. A number of our girls in Years 9 to 11 attended the lunchtime session to learn more about STEM options and possibilities after graduating University.

Guide to ADF Career Opportunities

The Australian Defence Force has over 200 roles across a wide range of specialty military positions, support roles, traditional and technical trade, and professions that range from medicine to engineering. The guide attached contains a wealth of information about possible careers within the Navy, Army and Air Force, as well as suggestions about subjects that would be useful in schooling and entry methods into the ADF.  Make the most of online and in-person information sessions as listed on their website as well!

Year 12 – Applying for Tertiary Education (VTAC)

VTAC is now open for students to register and submit an application.  We advise students to submit their preferences and pay the $55 fee by the end of Term 3, Fri 15 September.  The actual cut-off date is 5pm Thu 28 September.

Students are still able to change their preferences until 4pm Wed 13 December and throughout the Change of Preference periods that follow.

Year 12 – VTAC & SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

The Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) is the VTAC special consideration application for circumstances that have made it hard for you to do your best at study.

There are 4 different SEAS categories, and you can apply for as many as you feel are relevant to your circumstances.

It's best to get started early, as most categories require additional evidence about the circumstances. Read below for information about the requirements for each category!

We strongly recommend ALL students applying for tertiary study through VTAC submit a SEAS application – all students are eligible to apply for Category 1.

For students who will be submitting supporting documentation, students should submit this on VTAC by 5pm Fri 15 September, if they wish for VTAC to review the documentation.  Final cut-off date for SEAS applications and submission of documentation is 5pm Fri 6 October.

Tertiary Open Days

This month, most institutions will be opening their doors for prospective students to come on site and see what they have to offer. We strongly encourage all Year 12 students to attend Open Days of any institutions they are interested in applying for, so that they can ensure they are finding a good fit for them.  Year 10s and 11s are also encouraged to head along if there are any questions they have or if they would like to start their exploration early.

Attached is a document with an overview of Open Days, their dates and times.  There is also some information about how to get the most out of Open Days.
