Year 9 Consent Workshops

An integral part of the Year 7-10 Health Victorian Curriculum is to educate students about what Consent is and what the laws around Consent are.  To educate and empower our students, we will be hosting Eastern Community Legal Services to present the following to students:

  • The legal definition of consent, what is required and what lack of consent looks like .
  • What happens when there isn't consent and it becomes a sexual offence.
  • Sexting - what is it, what the law says, how to get help.

Additionally, teachers will be conducting smaller group workshops (either before or after the presentation) taking students through case studies of situations where students can apply their understanding of consent and what the implications would be in real life scenarios.

Parent Involvement

The Wantirna College Policy and Education Committee (CPEC) is a Subcommittee of College Council that meet twice a term. The committee shares and discusses new policies to get feedback from the parent perspective. We also share and discuss a range of teaching and learning initiatives with parents for their input and clarification.

We are always looking for new members so if you are interested in being part of our wonderful CPEC committee, please get in contact with me. It's a great opportunity to get involved and you do not need to be a member of College Council to be a part of this committee

CPEC meetings are held in the Conference room at 5pm. Here are the Term 4 meeting dates:

  • Tuesday 10 October
  • Tuesday 14 November
