Year 8 Basketball

Sport

Last week, fifty Year 8s ventured to Dandenong Stadium to compete against other schools in basketball.

It was a clean sweep for the the Wantirna Boys 1 Team in A Grade! The team secured first place by beating Rowville Sports by 2 points in the Grand Final. The boys should be very proud of how they played. I'm sure we’re all looking forward to how they go at EMR in Term 4.

It was also a clean sweep for the Boys 2 Team in B Grade! The team secured first place by beating our very own Boys 3 Team in the Grand Final. All three teams played outstanding basketball on the day and showed great sportsmanship!

A huge shout-out to Year 10 students Jackson Peters and Ryan Morris for volunteering to help run try-outs/trainings and coming along on the day! You both did a fantastic job coaching your teams!

Both of the Wantirna Girls teams progressed through to the Semi Finals. The Girls 1 Team played off against the Girls 2 Team for a spot in the Grand Final against Rowville Sports. Ultimately, the Girls 1 Team finished second and the Girls 2 Team finished third. Both teams gave it their all and showed great sportsmanship throughout the day!

Kristy Amat y Leon and Gemma van Grondelle were my fellow coaches for the day and we'd like to wish a huge congratulations to all students who participated on the day!
