Principal's Panorama

Miss Justine Goonan

Parents and Carers,

We have settled well into Term Four and the calendar is full of activity that will take us through to the end of the year.  The students are responding well to their teachers as we work through the final aspects of this year's learning and teaching. There is a lot to look forward to over the next nine weeks.

We commenced transition days for students who are considering joining our school community in 2024.  We had 11 students attend on Tuesday morning and they had a very active morning with Ms Whitehead.  We look forward to this continuing over the coming weeks. We ask families who have not submitted an expressions of interest form for 2024 to do this as soon as possible.  This will support our planning for next year.

Power Outage:

We remind families that there is no school on Tuesday 24th October due to the power outage.  Staff will be working from home and students can not attend the school.  We will notify you if there are any changes to this plan.

Closure Days:

The school will be closed on the following days in November.

Monday 6th November: Pupil Free Day- Report Writing day

Tuesday 7th November:  Melbourne Cup Public Holiday

Birthday Mass:

We have had to move this event to Tuesday 14th November at 9:30am.  CES Ltd CEO, Mr Paul Desmond will attend and we hope to see a few past students and staff members.  We hope you can make a special effort to attend this celebration and to be part of the morning tea.  See further information in the below flyer.

Survey:

You will have received an email asking you to participate in the 2023 Family School Engagement Survey. This survey provides the school with valuable feedback that helps our strategic planning and impacts our day to day operations.

Recently, Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd initiated a new process for providing feedback, CESSES, the Catholic Education Sandhurst School Engagement Surveys. CESSES is a set of surveys that will be conducted annually amongst families, students, and staff.  You are invited to participate in the Family Survey. Although your participation is voluntary, we strongly encourage you to participate in this survey.

It is important to note that your individual answers are confidential and will not be shared with the school. All survey responses from parents at the school will be grouped together in the survey report received by our school.

This survey is expected to take around 20 minutes. Please submit your responses by COB Monday 30th October 2023.

Snake Education:

On Monday morning we shared some information with students about being safe in the event of engaging with a snake in the school grounds or at home.  The emphasis was on staying calm and moving away so that the snake can continue its journey and not be halmed.  Please support this messaging in your own environment.

School Camp:

The students in 3/4 will attend an overnight camp at Howmans's Gap on the 2nd and 3rd of November.  The camp will be supervised by Mr Barlee, Mrs Lisa Pilli and Ms Goonan.  The Year 2 students will spend the two days in Ms Whiteheads class.

Athletics Carnival:

This year's Athletics Carnival is scheduled for Monday 30th October at Corryong Rec Reserve commencing at 9:40am.  Ms Lockwood has organised a great day of activities and parents and carers are invited to come along for the day to watch and can choose to join in some activities. So bring your runners! Students will need to wear their sports uniform, a broad brimmed school hat and bring a drink bottle with their name on it. Students will be supervised by their teachers.  Students going home at the end of the day need to be marked off the roll by their teacher before leaving.  We plan to conclude activities by 1:45pm.

Excursion Permission forms will be distributed shortly.

Baby Pynappels

It is with great excitement we share the wonderful news that Sophie Greenhill who is one of our fantastic Learning Support Officer's, welcomed a baby girl recently with partner Mitch. We welcome baby Eloise to the Sacred Heart School community and wish Soph and Mitch all the very best as they embark on the exciting journey of parenthood.
